Bachpan Se Seva – Nurturing Compassion From Childhood
At Braj Animal Care, we believe real change begins with the young. When nurtured early, compassion can improve lives and communities.
This belief gave birth to Bachpan Se Seva—Service from Childhood—a heartfelt initiative launched in May 2025. The programme is designed for children aged 3 to 12 and introduces young hearts to the animal welfare world through hands-on service, creativity, and joyful community engagement.
Planting Seeds of Kindness
Bachpan Se Seva isn’t just an event—it’s a movement. It gently immerses children in real acts of care, guided by trained volunteers in safe, thoughtfully designed settings.
The goal is to let children experience what it means to be kind, not through lectures, but through action. Whether feeding a hungry stray or expressing empathy through art, children learn that their small hands can make a big difference.
It also aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030, echoing a global vision for compassion, care, and sustainability.
Behind the Scenes: A Community Effort
This dream took shape with the tireless support of our volunteers and donors. On the evening before the event, our team arrived in Vrindavan, turning Bhakti Dham into a space filled with animal-themed decorations, colour, and warmth, setting the tone for a day of joy and learning.
A Day to Remember – 11 May 2025
From the moment the children arrived, the energy was palpable.
The morning began with a supervised feeding walk along Braj Animal Care’s familiar routes, where children lovingly fed street dogs known to our team. Safety was paramount: adult volunteers created a protective circle, and the area was stocked with first aid kits and water to ensure a secure, smooth experience.
Full of curiosity and enthusiasm, the children gently played with puppies and shared food with a sense of pride and joy that lit up their faces.
Back at the hall, they gathered for a poster-making activity, pouring their emotions into drawings that reflected the morning’s experiences.
This was followed by a short, engaging presentation about Braj Animal Care’s journey that began during the pandemic, our work today, and even a fun demonstration of our unique balloon-based dog-catching method. The children were captivated, their eyes wide with wonder.
Moments of Joy, Laughter, and Learning
After a refreshing break with fresh fruit and a Spider-Man cake, the children eagerly participated in an interactive Q&A, asking insightful questions. We could see they were deeply engaged.
Each participant received a certificate of appreciation and a thoughtful, eco-friendly gift: bamboo tumblers from our new merchandise, a small token of our gratitude and encouragement.
The day also included animal-themed games, combining laughter with valuable lessons about empathy, teamwork, and responsibility.
Finally, we closed the event with soulful kirtans, joined by children, parents, and volunteers. It was a beautiful, shared moment of peace and unity.

Children are naturally empathetic, but empathy needs guidance. Through Bachpan Se Seva, we help them channel their kindness into purposeful action. The initiative:

Looking Ahead
We were deeply moved by the children’s enthusiasm, courage, and sincerity. Their words reaffirmed our belief that change begins with care, and it is imperative to start when young.
We’re now expanding Bachpan Se Seva to more cities, with new events that include storytelling, hands-on animal care, creative expression, and mindful play centred around compassion.
