Little Helpers, Big Hearts – A Day of Love, Learning & Legacy

This Radhashtami, we returned to a very special corner of Braj — the place where Rainbow and her furry friends roam freely, and where a new generation of compassionate caretakers is already blooming.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear: these children aren't just growing up around animals — they're growing up with seva in their hearts.

Learning to Love, Learning to Lead

These little helpers already support us with feeding and treating local strays, so this time, we took it a step further. With the help of our ever-patient demo dog, Doggesh, we taught them basic skills in gentle handling, hygiene, and care. Through laughter and hands-on practice, they learned how to approach, calm, and comfort a stray — with kindness as the first step.

Rainy Roofs and Roaring Stories

Just as the sky opened up and thunder began to roll, we found ourselves gathered under a tin roof — a cozy setting for storytime and animal sound games. Giggles echoed as the children imitated meows, woofs, and moos, learning how every animal "speaks" and deserves to be heard.

Gifts, Games and Growing Minds

Before heading home, the children received thoughtful gifts: colouring books, crayons, and animal-themed stickers — tools for creativity and expression. The older kids also enjoyed a fun and educational animal questionnaire, designed to help them think more deeply about empathy and responsibility.

Kirtan, Jalebi and Community

We ended the day with soulful kirtan, delicious jalebi, and plenty of shared smiles — joined by their families and neighbours, many of whom remembered Gizmo, a gentle soul from the nearby site who is no longer with us. Her memory, however, lives on in every act of love these children show.

In loving memory of Gizmo — never forgotten.

A Radhashtami to Remember

“Bachpan Se Seva” isn’t just a campaign — it’s a movement. A belief that children, when given the right tools and a little trust, can become true champions of compassion. This Radhashtami, we saw that vision take shape once again.

Because caring for animals isn't just about them — it’s about who we become in the process.
