Preventing the Suffering of Braj's Animals: A Peek Inside Braj Animal Care (BAC)

2020
When the doors were locked,
The sky was dark and still,
Faces were masked,
Streets were ghostly.
The voiceless roamed,
Not knowing what was yet to come.

While people hoarded food and oxygen,
Braj Animal Care hoarded courage and compassion.
To feed and protect the abandoned animals of Vrindavan.

Once so dear to the locals, these animals
Now left to starve in silence,
Dying in unhygienic and forgotten corners.

The eerie pain of the voiceless became the loudest noise the BAC founders could hear.
And to quiet that suffering, they set out on a mission.
To feed. To rescue. To heal.

Little did they know this path of universal kindness would be long and lonely,
A road with no government support,
And no fanfare.
Despite the hurdles, they chose to walk it.
Because where there is will, there is always a way.

Understanding that every life matters,
Braj Animal Care began to restore hope,
Bowl by bowl,
Bandage by bandage.

With the support of its founders and volunteers,
Braj Animal Care has fed and treated the cows, dogs, monkeys, birds and cats of Vrindavan.
From cancer treatment to minor infections,
From daily feeding walks to regular check-ups,
From urgent action to ongoing education,
BAC has cared for the pain and dignity of the four-legged Brajwasis.

They held fast to one truth:
If there is one quality that truly sets humans apart from animals,
It is the ability for selfless service.

While many surrendered in the face of adversity,
BAC turned crisis into opportunity,
An opportunity to let the voiceless be heard,
To care for those who have no one,
To see the holy in those often dismissed as unholy,
To not only serve, but educate.

Educate society on:
What is kindness?
What is animal welfare?
What is seva?
What is humanity?

Because the harsh truth is:
We have mastered technology, law, and science,
But have yet to learn what it means to be truly human.

And so, to remind society of its humanity,
Braj Animal Care launched the initiative:

Bachpan Se Seva

Selfless Service From Childhood

Where the seeds of seva are sown early,
So they may grow into strong roots,
Values that stand tall in a world too quick to look away.
Values that, even in adversity, turn pain into purpose.
That teaches us to be the shelter for the shelterless,
And the voice for the voiceless.
